Gamma Knife 

At Palm Beach Health Network’s Good Samaritan Medical Center, you will have access to Gamma Knife, a precise and powerful therapy proven to treat brain disorders. It is a highly developed treatment for brain tumors, skull base tumors, and other brain disorders. 

Gamma Knife therapy does not involve surgery. Instead, it focuses 201 precise beams of radiation directly on the tumor. Individually, the beams are too weak to damage healthy tissue. Together, they converge to deliver powerful treatment to a single point. 

To establish the target for the radiation, physicians create detailed maps of the brain using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) or angiography. They then determine the precise amount of radiation needed to treat the cancer. 

Proton Therapy 

On the campus of Delray Medical Center, the Palm Beach Health Network’s partnership with the South Florida Proton Therapy Institute (SFPTI) expands the level of comprehensive oncology services with proton therapy. This type of treatment uses a beam of protons to irradiate diseased tissue. By using proton therapy, we are able to better target and destroy cancer cells, while minimizing the risk to surrounding healthy cells and tissue. This approach is a true game-changer when it comes to treating cancer, and the results are remarkable.

Surgery can be intimidating, but the good news is that you have more options today than ever before, and one of those is da Vinci® robotic assisted surgery. This type of minimally invasive surgery helps your surgeon perform the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with incredible precision. 

We use da Vinci® because it works. With da Vinci®, surgeons use a control panel to perform the procedure with robotic arms, so da Vinci® is entirely human directed—it cannot be programmed or make decisions on its own. But we can use technology to its fullest advantage, providing patients with the most precise care possible.

Cervical & Uterine Cancer 

If you need a hysterectomy or complex gynecologic surgery for cervical or uterine cancer, robot-assisted surgery with da Vinci® may be the most effective, least-invasive treatment available. Traditional open gynecologic surgery requires a large abdominal incision to access the uterus and surrounding anatomy, which generally requires a long and painful recovery process, and can threaten surrounding organs and nerves.
